Bin level indication is inaccurate
Last updated: August 17, 2026
Applicable model: Popur S7 Split Litter System (SLS)
Applicable firmware version: 4.0.0 & onwards
Applicable mobile app version: 2.0.0 & onwards (both Android & iOS)
💡 Technical Clarification
As a first step, kindly ensure the firmware is updated to version 4.0.0 or newer, and app is updated to version 2.0.0 or newer. Here's the firmware update guide.
There are 4 icons that indicate the bin's present level:
- Nearly empty: From 0 to ⅓ of the Cycle counts.
- Half empty: From ⅓ to ⅔ of the Cycle counts.
- Almost full: From ⅔ to 99% of the Cycle counts.
- Bin full: Triggered by bin sensors ONLY when the hood can no longer fully close.
Starting with firmware 4.0.0, the Zeroing command inside Bin menu is introduced to help monitor the bin level more accurately by confirming the zero mark. Please hit and confirm Zeroing each time after changing to a new bag. For a faster onboard operation, you may set Zeroing as a shortcut in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Shortcut menu → Select Zeroing.
Note that in order to use the first three bin level indicators, it's critical to set an accurate Cycle counts in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Dump → Monitor bin → Cycle counts. Please provide an approximate number of cycles from zeroing to a full bin. For better accuracy, manually reset the cycle count to zero after you empty the bin, then continue using the device normally and observe how many cycles are recorded until the bin becomes full. Lastly, change the preset value (in multiples of 21) that is closest to the actual usage.
As for bin full, the following steps are outlined with an intention to eliminate any possible environmental factors leading to inaccurate bin full reports, including both NOT and FALSELY reporting bin full:
- Proper seating helps prevent imbalance, wobbling, or tension that could interfere with the bin hood. Please double-check its setup using this short assembly guide: https://youtu.be/bZ3mRNZrMH4.
- Please make sure there is sufficient clearance for the hood to open, and no nearby obstructions.
- The trash bag itself can sometimes interfere. Heavy clumps resting on the bag may pull the hood back—please stretch the bag fully so it reaches the bottom of the bin.
- If the unit is placed on a plush carpet or thick litter mat, it may tilt slightly and press against the bin, affecting hood movement.
After these checks, plug in the bin hood and power cycle the machine. The system conducts a bin calibration automatically each time the bin hood is plugged in, including after powering on the whole system. Meanwhile, you may manually recalibrate the waste bin sensors that decide whether or not the bin is full in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Dump → Recalibrate bin → Recalibrate. You may also set a higher or lower tolerance.
Under Dump settings, if Monitor bin full is disabled, you won't receive any bin full alerts, while an active Allow overfill fucntion is irrelevant, i.e. still reports bin full.
If you are constantly experiencing inaccurate bin full reports, including either NOT or FALSELY reporting bin full, please consider replacing the bin hood to resolve the issue once and for all.
