Starting from November 1, 2026, we're officially offering the upgraded Edition 2.0 of the Popur S7 Split Litter System (SLS). It also marks a celebration of the 1st anniversary after delivering the first S7 three months following its Kickstarter debut. Since then, we've continued listening to the community and reshaping the S7 with both cats and their humans in mind. The Edition 2.0 now brings these efforts together with thoughtful upgrades across hardware, algorithms, functions, and peripherals. Based on real-world experience and customer feedback, we've addressed all reported issues, delivered new features, and refined everyday performance.

These upgrades stay true to our CARESS principles: Clean litter, Airy ambiance, Robust longevity, Effortless care, Spacious & 200% Safe. These principles have guided the S7 from the beginning and remain at the heart of its continued development.

Since the Popur S7 SLS entered mass production in 2025, we've continued addressing reported issues and incorporating fixes into product updates. Here are a few notable examples:

Preventing Assembly-Related Litter Spills

Some owners reported litter spills or the litter tray coming loose during cleaning. These issues were often linked to the tray not being fully secured. The locks could be left partially engaged during setup or loosened in transit. Our earlier instructions also didn't always make this critical step clear enough.

We've addressed this through several practical changes:

Better Shipping Protection: Additional securing materials help keep the litter tray locks in place during transportation.
Clearer Setup Instructions: Warning stickers, updated manuals, and unpacking guides emphasize the importance of properly securing the litter tray.
Expanded Customer Support Resources: Tutorial videos and troubleshooting guidance show how to identify and correct assembly-related issues.

These measures help prevent assembly-related spills and make proper setup more straightforward, even for those setting up an automatic litter box for the first time.

Addressing Unwanted Mechanical Noise

Reports of unusual squeaking or rubbing sounds during cleaning cycles led us to investigate specific mechanical contact points. We've since addressed these sources of noise by removing a silicone strip, refining contact surfaces between moving parts, and refining gear lubrication.

These changes target abnormal mechanical sounds without compromising the Popur S7 SLS's cleaning performance.

Resolving Automatic Cleaning Issues

Automatic cleaning relies on accurate pet detection and coordinated movements between the litter tray, sifter, and waste bin. Successive firmware updates have addressed issues affecting different stages of the cleaning process.

Pet Detection & Cleaning Triggers: Fixed software bugs that could prevent cleaning from starting or trigger it unexpectedly. Refined detection algorithms also help the S7 respond more accurately to pet activity.
Litter Tray & Sifter Movements: Resolved issues involving incorrect position readings and interrupted sifter movements. Sensor recalibration and backup-sensor functions also provide additional ways to restore normal operation when needed.
Waste Disposal & Bin Hood Operation: Fixed software issues that could interfere with waste disposal, including a communication problem that prevented the bin hood from receiving its opening command. Additional diagnostic tools also help identify installation or component-related problems.
Litter Sifting & Distribution: The redesigned Chunky-litter Mode is now available with Firmware 4.5.0 and App 2.2.0. It offers customizable sifting and smoothing movements to better accommodate different litter sizes and shapes, particularly coarser particles, while helping distribute litter more evenly after cleaning.

Existing S7 owners can access released software fixes through compatible firmware updates. Popur S7 SLS Edition 2.0 comes with Firmware 4.0.0 or newer preinstalled, so the fixes included in its factory-installed version are already in place.

Myriad New Features Delivered

Alongside these fixes, Popur S7 SLS Edition 2.0 includes software features introduced since Kickstarter. A major milestone came on August 31, 2026, when Firmware 4.0.0 and App 2.0.0 introduced Pet Data, expanded app controls, and rebuilt the Self-check system. Compatible software updates make these features available on earlier S7 units too.

Pet Data: A Closer Look at Your Cats' Habits

The Popur S7 SLS does more than clean up after your cats. With built-in weight sensors, it also helps you track pets' weight and litter box habits. In the Popur S7 App, you can create individual profiles for multiple cats and review:

Visits: Track how often each cat uses the litter box.
Stay Duration: See how long each visit lasts.
Weight Records: View weight measurements captured during litter box visits and follow changes over time.
Last Seen: Check each cat's most recent recorded activity.

These records give you a clearer picture of each cat's daily routine. In multi-cat households, they make it easier to follow individual habits and notice changes in weight, visit frequency, or time spent in the litter box.

12 Cleaning Modes for Different Needs

The Popur S7 SLS now supports 12 cleaning modes to accommodate different cat behaviors, litter types, and household routines. Here's what each mode does:

Automatic, Schedule & Do-not-disturb modes: Enable cleaning after each use, schedule cycles at preferred times, or pause cleaning during designated quiet hours. Turning off Automatic enables manual operation.
Sentinel mode: Temporarily pauses operation when a nearby cat is detected to avoid startling them. The S7's inherently safe, pinch-free design does not rely on this mode for mechanical safety.
Caring, Linger & Zoomie modes: Adapt pet detection to lightweight cats, extended stays in the litter tray, or particularly quick visits.
No-troll mode: Prevents repetitive cleaning cycles triggered by curious cats, with an adjustable cooldown period.
Chunky-litter, Soft-stool & Auto-bury modes: Adjust cleaning movements to accommodate different litter types, softer waste, and cats that leave their waste uncovered.
Dog-proof mode: Deploys the sifter to help prevent curious dogs from accessing cat waste.

You can configure these modes in the Popur S7 App to suit your household.

Self-check: Making Troubleshooting Easier

The Popur S7 SLS's Self-check feature was significantly expanded with Firmware 4.0.0, making it easier to identify and troubleshoot operating issues.

Self-check can:

Examine key system functions and report whether the checks have passed.
Identify potential issues through relevant error codes and guided troubleshooting.
Provide diagnostic information that our support engineers can review when further assistance is needed.

For many common situations, Self-check helps you identify the issue and follow the recommended troubleshooting steps. This makes the S7 easier to maintain and gives our support team better information when additional assistance is needed.

More Control in the Popur S7 App

Firmware 4.0.0 also expanded the S7's customization options. The app lets you fine-tune cleaning speed, litter reshuffling, and weight-based pet detection settings.

Litterpad and Sifter Options for Easier Care

Reducing wet litter sticking to the bottom of the tray has been an ongoing focus of our litterpad development.

From Rigidbase and Duralastic to Flexiguard, we've continued exploring different materials and constructions to make litter release easier, enhance moisture protection, and simplify routine cleaning. Each design offers distinct benefits.

Popur S7 SLS Edition 2.0 now includes two different litterpad styles:

Flexiguard Litterpad - Preinstalled. Its soft, dense, highly water-repellent surface and waterproof backing help minimize wet litter sticking, making routine cleanup easier.
Rigidbase Litterpad - Also included. Its firmer, reinforced structure provides a stable surface that remains flat during use.

With both styles in the box, you can choose the option that best suits your litter and cleaning preferences.

Popur S7 SLS Edition 2.0 also includes an 8 mm sifter as standard, with 6 mm and 10 mm options available separately to accommodate different litter types and preferences.

We're also developing our own cat litter formula with the Popur S7 SLS in mind. Early testing has shown encouraging results in minimizing sticking and managing odors. We'll share more as the formula progresses toward release.

Weight & Waste-Bin Monitoring Updates

We've continued refining the Popur S7 SLS's weight measurement and waste-bin monitoring functions for greater accuracy and consistency. These refinements are included in Edition 2.0 and are also available on earlier S7 units through compatible firmware and app versions.

Waste-Bin Monitoring: Customizable cycle-based estimates and the Zeroing function let you track waste accumulation based on your household's usage and reset the count after emptying the bin.
Weight Measurement: Refinements to data processing and sensor calibration support more accurate and consistent weight records.

Packaging and Unboxing Refinements

Popur S7 SLS Edition 2.0 includes updated packaging designed to protect components during shipping and make the unboxing process more straightforward.

Easy Access to the Unbox Guide: A QR code on the outer carton provides access to the unpacking instructions before opening the box.
Enhanced Shipping Protection: Additional honeycomb cardboard inserts help protect the metal waste bin, while updated securing materials keep smaller components and connections in place during transportation.

If you already have an S7, compatible firmware and app updates continue to provide expanded controls and features such as Pet Data. Accessories such as Flexiguard, Rigidbase, and alternative sifters are also available separately for compatible units.
