Replaced the cardboard box that came with our unit since it was literally falling apart and, crushing and absorbing moisture from the litter (yes, we use the bags). We went away for a week and came back to the cardboard all crumpled, squished litter everywhere and a mess that took quite some time to clean up. We ordered this plastic bin, and it has been a remarkable improvement. First, the bags don't tear as easy, and if they do, not an issue as it is easy to clean out. Second, no more moisture attracting cardboard. Closes perfectly and stays snug against the unit minimizing spills. My only complaint about the plastic bin is, why do they consider this an "upgrade". It should be the standard bin that comes with the unit. If you want your product to shine wouldn't you make sure it comes with the best pieces standard?? Its success has prompted us to purchase a second litterbox WITH the plastic bin. What does that say about the cardboard; cardboard is for packaging, not a litter bin dump.
