Incompatible software after replacement

💡 Prerequisite

We recommend always keeping the firmware and app up-to-date to ensure your unit is running the latest control logic, stability optimizations and feature improvements. This also establishes a verified baseline before proceeding with further diagnostics. Therefore, in this article, we assume that your unit was running on firmware version 4.0.0 or newer, and your app was version 2.0.0 or newer, before replacing the motherboard or the power supply board.

🚩 Case 1: After replacing the motherboard

If the new motherboard you received is baked with firmware 3.6.0 or earlier version, it will be incompatible with the rest of the system, as well as App 2.0.0 version. You can tell this info in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Technical info.

While the core functions including auto-clean remains intact, a suite of new features won't work.

To address this incompatibility, simply update to firmware 4.0.0 or onwards in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Firmware update.

🚩 Case 2: After replacing the power supply board

If the new power supply board you received is baked with firmware 3.6.0 or earlier version, it will be incompatible with the rest of the system. While the core features remain functional, including auto-clean and App 2.0.0 version, a suite of new functionalities won't work.

The easiest way to tell this info is by turning on the Auto power-cycle feature in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Spin → Auto power-cycle. Then, reboot the machine to see whether or not it automatically power cycles. If not, the new power supply board is on legacy firmware.

To address this incompatibility, simply update to firmware 4.0.0 or onwards in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Firmware update. If there is no newer version to install, please contact us so that we could manually push over a new version for you to install.

🚩 Case 3: Your unit was running legacy firmware (v3.6.0 or ealier) before replacement

If you haven't replaced the parts yet, please refer to Prerequisite and update the firmware first.

Otherwise, if you already replaced the parts:

If you installed a new motherboard baked with firmware 4.0.0, it creates the same scenario as Case 2 above. So please refer to Case 2.

If you installed a new power supply board baked with firmware 4.0.0, it creates the same scenario as Case 1 above. So please refer to Case 1.

If you installed both the new mobo and powerboard, it creates an unknown scenario. That said, the solution in Case 2 will work. Simply update to firmware 4.0.0 or onwards in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Firmware update. If there is no newer version to install, please contact us so that we could manually push over a new version for you to install.
