It took a couple of months, but we successfully migrated our 2 teenaged cats from their 3 Feline Pine litter boxes to just 1 Popur X5, and they seem very happy using it - I think they appreciate that it's always clean, and I love only having to empty it every 5-7 days.

Lessons learned along the way:
- it took time for them to accept the (low) noise and movement - we had to run the machine manually multiple times a day for them to not be suspicious/afraid of it.
- switching litters was tough for them - but Okocat saved the day, a wood-based clumping litter. I mix the pellet version with the super soft, and set the machine's delay to 10 mins to give it time to clump - works perfectly.
- litter can stick to the liner - so I sprayed it with 5 coats of Scotchgard water repellant and now everything slides off, highly recommend doing that. Also bought a spare liner (just $25) so there's no downtime during cleanings.
- FWIW cheap spa chair liners can be used in the litter disposal tray to save money

Ways it could be improved:
- the cardboard litter disposal tray feels cheap and isn't solidly connected to the machine, seems like a redesign would be good here
- the actual usable litter area isn't big, 17" x 13", so larger cats may struggle here. Our 2 mid-sized cats are ok with it but often pee together and it's super cramped for 2, would be nice if that area could be bigger.

All in all, a great purchase, and it has been very reliable - I think it disconnected from the iPhone app a few times in 4 months, but is very easy to recover just by restarting the app. Highly recommended, your life (and that of your cat sitters!) will be much easier.

I was real hesitant about spending this much for a litter box. But having freedom from box duty and the smelly disposal is worth it!

This is a huge upgrade from the Litter box 3 which I had for years. This device has a nice profile and does a great job trapping odors. However, the self sifting mechanism does not sift the litter evenly across the entire liner. There’s a good 2-3inches of liner that is exposed and not covered with litter. Therefore, and unfortunately I have a cat that chooses to urinate in the corner where there is no litter so when the litter box cycles only then does it get litter mixed into the urine and so not enough time for it to harden/dry. This leads to the grill plate on the sifter to always have wet remnants of litter/urine

Got mine a week ago and it has been a life saver!!! I have 2 cats one of which is soooooo particular about his litter box. All the while he’s been peeing all over.. on the couch.. in the bathtub.. anywhere imaginable but then popur came along and he stopped!!! Isn’t it just a miracle?!! Thanks popur ❤️

I don’t think there is a perfect automatic litter box out there but the Popur X5 is the best I’ve experienced. I started buying Litter-Robots in 2016. I currently own five of them, including the newest model, the 4. I also own one Neakasa and one Meowant litter box. These brands are okay, better than scooping litter manually. I find the Litter-Robot units are a pain to clean and maintain. The PopurX5 is more efficient at scooping litter, overall the unit stays cleaner with less debris getting into crevices and it’s much easier to deep clean and maintain. My four cats prefer Popur’s open top to the globe style. I have “retired” my Litter-Robots. Popur X5 is the only box that all four of my cats will use. I’m considering purchasing a second one as I’ve been very impressed with my initial purchase. Plus, the purchase price of the X5 is more reasonable than the Litter-Robot price.
