Litter tray doesn't turn upright when dumping trash
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Applicable model: Popur S7 Split Litter System (SLS)
Applicable firmware version: 4.2.0 & onwards
Applicable mobile app version: 2.0.0 & onwards (both Android & iOS)
🔍 Troubleshooting Suggestions
This abnormal pattern implies that either the position sensor for the litter tray, or the angular sensor for the rotor unit is not functioning accurately.
As a first step, kindly ensure the firmware is updated to version 4.2.0 or newer, and app is updated to version 2.0.0 or newer. Here's the firmware update guide.
The system may be recovered by recalibrating the position sensor as follows:
- Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Spin → Recalibrate sensor → Recalibrate
- Alternatively, hold the Clean button for 3 seconds—and do this AGAIN within 10 seconds.
Once the calibration process is triggered, the rotor unit will rotate back and forth briefly before resting at the neutral position which is its default standby state. Otherwise, reboot the machine or perform the self-check. If the starting position is still incorrect or a solid red light appears, a new power supply board module will be needed. 👉 Scenario 1
If the default standby position is accurate but the issue persists, please take these further steps to activate a backup angular sensor:
- Activate the Pro-Commands mode by holding the Fn button for 7 seconds till you hear three short beeps, and the status light will turn blue;
- Then, hold the Clean/Play button for 3 seconds till you hear a prolonged beep;
- Wait briefly for 3 to 5 seconds till another prolonged beep, which means complete;
- Reboot the machine or exit the Pro-Commands by holding the Fn button for 7s again.
The duplicate sensor will engage after these steps, and the unit is expected to work properly again. Otherwise, reboot the machine or perform the self-check. If the rotation is still inaccurate or a solid red light appears, a new motherboard will be needed. 👉 Scenario 2
Note: If you try to activate the Pro-Commands after the machine is just powered up, it'll automatically pause the initialization sequence. If you've customized the Fn button and therefore the Pro-Commands cannot be triggered by the Fn button, you may change the customization or conduct a hard reset to restore the settings.
🪛 Repair or Replacement
In Scenario 1
We recommend replacing the power supply board to permanently resolve the issue if this error code appears. Since the load cells are soldered directly to the circuit board, they must be replaced together as a complete assembly. This design offers better reliability, durability, and signal consistency than pin-connected alternatives.
After the replacement, please recalibrate the weight sensor using Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Scale → Recalibrate scale → Confirm, or follow this video guide.

In Scenario 2
We recommend replacing the motherboard to permanently resolve the issue when this pattern appears. Feel free to keep the cat sensor as backup and skip the corresponding section in the video, as it is not applicable to the present issue.

🚩 Special Case for Incompatible Software after Replacement
In Scenario 1
If the new power supply board you received is baked with firmware 3.6.0 or earlier version, it will be incompatible with the rest of the system. While the core features remain functional, including auto-clean and App 2.0.0 version, a suite of new functionalities won't work.
The easiest way to tell this info is by turning on the Auto power-cycle feature in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Spin → Auto power-cycle. Then, reboot the machine to see whether or not it automatically power cycles. If not, the new power supply board is on legacy firmware.
To address this incompatibility, simply update to firmware 4.0.0 or onwards in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Firmware update. If there is no newer version to install, please contact us so that we could manually push over a new version for you to install.
In Scenario 2
If the new motherboard you received is baked with firmware 3.6.0 or earlier version, it will be incompatible with the rest of the system, as well as App 2.0.0 version. You can tell this info in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Technical info.
While the core functions including auto-clean remains intact, a suite of new features won't work.
To address this incompatibility, simply update to firmware 4.0.0 or onwards in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Firmware update.
