Pet detection is inaccurate

Last updated: August 19, 2026
Applicable model: Popur S7 Split Litter System (SLS)
Applicable firmware version: 4.0.0 & onwards
Applicable mobile app version: 2.0.0 & onwards (both Android & iOS)

🔍 Troubleshooting Suggestions

Inaccurate pet detections can be categorized into these two groups:

  1. Pet is present but it says not detected, i.e. falsely reporting Pet left without business.
  2. Pet is absent but it says detected, i.e. falsely reporting Pet detected or Pet finished the business.

As a first step, kindly ensure the firmware is updated to version 4.0.0 or newer, and app is updated to version 2.0.0 or newer. Here's the firmware update guide. Please make sure your unit is in the default Automatic mode (indicated by purple light) as opposed to green or blue color for manual operation. Note that Schedule, Do-not-distrub, No-troll,

For Scenario 1: False 'Pet left without business'

Please consider the following options:

  • Increase cat sensor sensitivity (default value 5) or range (default value 3) in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Detect
  • Activate Caring or Zoomie mode in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Modes menu → Caring or Zoomie
For Scenario 2: False 'Pet finished the business'

Please consider the following options:

  • Decrease cat sensor sensitivity (default value 5) or range (default value 3) in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Top-right icon for Settings → Detect
  • Activate Anti-interference in the Popur S7 App → Device Page → Detect → Anti-interference

After the reset, please conduct a quick sensor test by gently waving your hand above the litter bed to simulate a cat's movement. Please continue the motion for at least 10 seconds to ensure a sustained trigger. Under normal operation, the purple status light will:

  1. Blink to indicate motion detection;
  2. Spin once a while (about 6 seconds) to confirm the trigger;
  3. Switch to a breathing pattern, signaling that a cleaning cycle is scheduled.

If the purple light still doesn't blink, a new cat sensor will be needed.

🪛 Repair or Replacement

If you are constantly experiencing inaccurate pet detections, including either NOT or FALSELY reporting, please consider replacing the cat sensor to resolve the issue once and for all. Feel free to keep the motherboard as backup and skip the corresponding section in the video, as it is not applicable to the present issue.
